FACIAL TONING

As we grow older our facial muscles naturally start to lose tone and elasticity.Genetics, lifestyle, weight fluctuation and environmental factors can all influence the rate and degree to which our muscles will lose their tone as we all know first impressions count and a sagging face can make you look tired, miserable and older than your years. Following over 20 years of research and development CACI International can now offer a non surgical solution to combat loss of muscle tone using CACI micro current facial toning therapy.

Microcurrent therapy was originally developed as a medical application to treat facial palsy and muscle tone was restored by applying tiny micro-current electrical impulses to the affected muscles.

Today this proven technology is now available as a painless cosmetic treatment and is commonly referred to as “facial toning” or “the non surgical face lift”.

During each treatment session all 32 facial muscles are gently manipulated and re-educated by a trained therapist using a series of precise movements. Soft cotton tipped wands are used on the face to transmit the micro-current energy to the facial muscles to restore tone and elasticity.

Results are visible after the very first treatment but a course of 10 treatments is generally recommended.

After a course of CACI facial toning treatments facial contours will look lifted and toned.

A monthly top up treatment is recommended to maintain results.

Signs of Skin Ageing improved by the CACI Micro-Current

CROWS FEET AND EYE BAGS Your eyes are surrounded by a network of fine, narrow muscles supporting the skin in an area which isparticularly fragile. The MICROLIFT MODE will stimulate these muscles, improving the circulation in the peripheral blood vessels thereby reducing any sagging contours and restoring a healthier skin tone.

WRINKLES ON FOREHEAD The vertical muscles that support the skin of the forehead are rarely used, therefore they do not adequately stimulate the blood vessels for proper irrigation of the epidermis. Frowning will stimulate these muscles but the creases that result will prevent any irrigation benefits of the epidermis. Using MICROLIFT MODE, you can exercise these muscles improving irrigation of the epidermis and therefore skin tone and appearance of wrinkles.

CREASES AROUND THE MOUTH Between the cheeks and nose there is a long muscle called the "joint elevator. This muscle works in adownward direction as a rule, gradually forming a deepening, vertical crease in this area. With the use of MICROLIFT MODE you can instigate this muscle to work upwards creating better support for your skin, and progressively reducing creases.

SAGGING CHIN LINE Whenever you chew, you are using the muscles around the jaw bone called masseters. The muscles under the chin are called the quadrate and the triangularis. To correct any sagging under the chin, these muscles must be exercised as these are not used in the chewing process. The MICROLIFT MODE causes these muscles to contract, tightening up any slackness under the chin.

TO IMPROVE THE COMPLEXION Beneath the facial skin there is a complex network of muscles and elastic tissue. The function of this network is to support the epidermis and stimulate the peripheral blood vessels, ensuring that the skin's foundation is well irrigated. Regular use of the MICROLIFT MODE improves and maintains the efficiency of this "skin feeding system" and achieves a visible improvement of the complexion. The MICROLIFT MODE treatments contributes to a truly remarkable improvement of the facial contours and complexion.

STRETCHMARKS

Stretch marks or striae are a form of scarring. They are caused by tearing of the dermis. Stretch marks are often the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth (common in puberty) or weight gain (e.g. pregnancy or muscle building).

Stretch marks occur in the dermis, the resilient middle layer that helps the skin retain its shape. Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body, but are most likely to appear in places where larger amounts of fat are stored.

The glucocorticoid hormones responsible for the development of stretch marks affect the epidermis by preventing the fibroblasts from forming collagen and elastin fibers, necessary to keep rapidly growing skin taut. This creates a lack of supportive material, as the skin is stretched and leads to dermal and epidermal tearing.

Stretch marks can be treated using skin abrasion treatment technology. A superficial abrasion of the skin tissue triggers the body’s own natural repair mechanism which stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. Consequently skin abrasion technology can have a remarkable softening action on stretchmarks. Although unlikely to completely remove the stretch marks a course of skin abrasion treatments should certainly cause stretch marks to significantly fade.

Generally the newer the stretch mark the greater will be the response to skin abrasion treatments.

Microdermabrasion and Ultrasonic Peel are the skin abrasion technologies available that can assist in removing the stratum corneum (dead outermost surface of the skin).

Acne/Blemishes

All acne is a disorder of the sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands produce a substance called sebum, which is responsible for keeping the skin moisturized. During adolescence sebaceous glands enlarge and produce more sebum under the influence of hormones, also called androgens. After about age 20, sebum production begins to decrease.

Problems arise when the sebum becomes trapped in the skin and hair follicles. The sebum is produced but gets trapped on the way out, and the cells that are normally sloughed off become "sticky", plugging up the follicle. The process of obstructing follicles is called comedogenesis. It causes some follicles to form a type of acne called comedones, also known as blackheads and whiteheads.

Treatment methods that slough off the dead skin cells like Microdermabrasion and an Ultrasonic Peel can prevent sebum from becoming trapped in the follicles. These exfoliation methods also help to unblock obstructed follicles by removing the comedones.

A bacteria, known as Propionibacterium acnes, is a normal inhabitant of the skin. It uses sebum as a nutrient for growth, therefore increases in follicles during puberty. People with acne have more Propionibacterium acnes in their follicles than people without acne. The presence of bacteria attracts white blood cells to the follicle. This process causes an inflammatory response seen as papules (red bumps), pustules, and nodules. The bacteria also cause the formation of free fatty acids, which are irritants, increasing the inflammatory process in the follicle. The American Academy of Dermatology has reported that blue LED Light Therapy can be used to destroy the bacteria that produces the inflammation associated with propionbacterium acnes.

Other studies have shown that a combination of Red and Blue light LED therapy produced quicker results for the treatment of acne than the application of blue light alone.

Hand Rejuvenation

You've buffed, scrubbed and moisturised your face into an ageless vision of youth that keeps them guessing. That is, until they notice your hands.

A classic ageing giveaway, our hands are a tell-tale indicator of our true age.

They are always in contact with the elements, household chemicals and extreme temperatures causing sun damage, dryness, chapped skin and age spots, yet our hands are often left off the list when it comes to pampering. However, it's never too late to start caring for your hands as they respond quickly to a little TLC.

The quickest way to keep hands looking young and beautiful is to use exfoliation technology to remove the dry dead skin cells followed by an intensive moisturising treatment to leave the skin tissue firm and supple.

Stimulation of the skin tissue will also improve blood flow and circulation giving the hands a healthy and youthful glow.

An Ultrasonic Peel provides a less aggressive alternative to traditional microdermabrasion methods of skin exfoliation and is incorporated in the Caci treatments.

The Hydratone treatment uses a moisture infused gel mask to bathe the skin with intensive hydrating actives. De-hydrated skin is immediately quenched by the hydrating properties of the mask. The Hydratone mask also has a softening action that helps to plump out and smooth the skin.

LINES/WRINKLES

Facial wrinkles are caused by a number of factors:

Dynamic lines - these are wrinkles that are caused by contraction of the muscles of facial expression. Repeated compression of the skin along these lines breaks down the collagen fibres which support the skin to form specific lines and wrinkles. Initially, these wrinkles can only be seen when the muscles contract e.g when you smile/frown, however, as the skin becomes progressively creased, the lines may often appear at rest.

Loss of facial volume - When we are younger, our face is more plump and full as time passes, this volume is lost.  Fat around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead are depleted. This loss of volume leads to some bagginess of skin and the formation of wrinkles. Loss of facial volume also results in an older, more gaunt appearance, as is often seen with dramatic weight loss. Microcurrent Non-surgical facial toning can help to replace this lost volume - improving both wrinkles and the overall youthfulness of the face.

Gravity - The inescapable pull of gravity draws the skin downwards on the face. This leads to drooping of the cheeks and formation of nasolabial lines (the lines from the corners of the mouth to the nose) and jowls, drooping of the eye skin and formation of upper and lower lid laxity and wrinkles.

Sleep lines – These are caused by the compression of the skin from contact of the pillow to the face when sleeping. Their location is determined by the underlying attachments of the muscles of the face. Pillow contact puts pressure on these attachments and causes sleep lines. Sleep lines can often be found on the forehead, around the eyes, cheeks and upper lip, and are not created by muscle contraction.

Other External Factors – Sun damage, smoking and poor diet can also cause a thinning of the skin, de-hydration and a break down of collagen leading to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Skin re-surfacing technologies like Microdermabrasion, and the ultrasonic peel can help to reduce the signs of premature lines and wrinkles by stimulating the production of new collagen. Hydrating treatments like Hydratone can help to re-hydrate the skin and plump out deep lines and wrinkles.
